Lithuanian EPC contractor MT Group has signed a deal with Gasfin Development to build a heater facility at DET’s FSRU-based LNG import terminal in Brunsbüttel, Germany.
According to a statement by MT Group, the contract includes the construction and installation of a 60MW heater facility for Gasfin, to be installed at the Brunsbüttel FSRU terminal.
MT Group did not reveal the contract price.
The firm said the new heater facility’s purpose is to ensure the regasification of LNG at the floating LNG terminal, thereby improving its efficiency and overall performance.
Under this contract, MT Group will handle general construction and mechanical works, including the installation and commissioning of technological equipment, electrical and automation systems, and will oversee the entire construction process.
MT Group has already started preparatory work, with construction scheduled to begin in 2024.
Earlier this year, Germany’s Brunsbüttel Ports officially started building a new dedicated jetty that will host the 170,000-cbm FSRU Hoegh Gannet.
Hoegh Gannet is currently located at the Brunsbüttel Port’s existing dangerous goods berth in Brunsbüttel’s Elbehafen port and the new jetty is being built to the west of this location.
DET, the operator of the Elbehafen LNG terminal, previously said that the existing location of the FSRU is temporary and the FSRU will be relocated once the dedicated jetty is completed.
Hoegh Gannet received its first LNG tanker on February 14 last year from UAE’s Adnoc and the second tanker from the US on April 22.
In addition to this FSRU-based LNG terminal, DET operates the Wilhelmshaven 1 terminal and expects to launch its next two FSRU-based LNG import terminals in Stade and Wilhelmshaven by the end of this year.
