Petronet invites bids for third Dahej LNG jetty

India’s largest LNG importer Petronet LNG has recently launched a new tender inviting EPC contractors to submit bids for the planned third jetty at its Dahej terminal in western Gujarat state.

The company invites bids through open international competitive bidding from prospective
bidders to submit their qualification proposals for selection of “EPC contractors for marine facilities for third berth (jetty) at Dahej LNG terminal & specified additional works,” Petronet said in the tender document.

Petronet said that bids must be submitted by April 16.

The company’s finance chief Vinod Mishra said in January during Petronet’s quarterly results call that the company was in the process of finalizing the details and to award the jetty contract.

Mishra said the project is worth 17 billion Indian rupees ($205 million).

Following the contract award, it would take about 36 months to complete the jetty.

He said that this jetty would be diversified and able to import propane, ethane, as well as LNG, giving Petronet more more flexibility in operations.

Petronet is currently expanding its 17.5 mtpa Dahej LNG terminal with about 5 mtpa of new capacity, and is also constructing two additional LNG tanks on top of the six existing tanks.

Mishra said the tanks are expected to be completed by June this year and the new capacity is expected to be available by March 2025.

Besides the Dahej LNG terminal, Petronet operates the 5 mtpa Kochi LNG facility and is working on the Gopalpur FSRU project.

Petronet recently signed a 20-year SPA with QatarEnergy to buy around 7.5 mtpa of LNG from the latter.
