Samsung Heavy bags single LNG carrier order

South Korean shipbuilding giant Samsung Heavy Industries will build one liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier as part of a new deal revealed on Friday.

Samsung Heavy said in a statement the contract has a price tag of 244.8 billion won ($207 million).

The yard said it would build the LNG carrier for an Oceania-based owner.

Samsung Heavy added it would deliver the ship by May 2025, but it did not reveal any additional information regarding the contract.

Including the newest deal, the shipbuilder won orders worth $12 billion so far this year, surpassing its annual target of $9.1 billion by about 32 percent. This includes orders for 21 LNG carriers.

This new contract follows an order for three LNG carriers Samsung Heavy revealed earlier this week.
