Wallenius SOL, the Swedish owner of two LNG-powered ConRo vessels, has appointed Elvir Dzanic as its new chief executive officer.
He replaces Ragnar Johansson who will step down from his post as CEO to focus instead on developing the company’s business, according to a statement by Wallenius SOL.
Dzanic comes from a position as CEO at Gothenburg Port Authority.
He will take up the post as Wallenius SOL’s CEO in the summer of 2023.
“Being part of this journey feels really exciting and challenging. For me, Wallenius SOL is so much more than a shipping company – it’s an infrastructure initiative and a guarantee of ongoing industrialisation in northern Sweden and Finland,” Dzanic said in the statement.
In 2022, Wallenius SOL took delivery of two LNG-powered vessels specially designed to work with the shipping company’s existing vessels to serve the industries in northern Sweden and Finland.
China’s CIMC Raffles in Yantai delivered Botnia Enabler in May last year, followed by Baltic Enabler in June.
The ships feature two 685-cbm type C LNG tanks, provided by MAN Cryo, as well as two WinGD dual-fuel main engines.
“My ambition is to further develop the company for its long-term expansion and to ensure that we grow in line and symbiotically with the ongoing development in northern Sweden,” Dzanic said.
