Avenir LNG’s small-scale newbuild wraps up first delivery in Lithuania

Small-scale player Avenir LNG said it has joined forces with Lithuanian gas supplier Achema Gas Trade to complete its first delivery to the small-scale LNG terminal in the port of Klaipeda.

The 7,500-cbm LNG bunkering and supply vessel, Avenir Aspiration, loaded LNG on behalf of Achema Gas at the Klaipedos Nafta-operated FSRU Independence, and delivered the cargo to the LNG reloading station on April 1, according to a statement by Avenir.

London-based Avenir, the joint venture consisting of Stolt-Nielsen, Hoegh and Golar, said Polish gas supplier PGNiG had purchased the fuel.

PGNiG would distribute it by truck to various industrial and logistics customers in the Baltics to secure the energy supply.

Avenir said the start of the cooperation between the company and Achema Gas, a unit of Achema, marks an “important milestone”.

It also marks the start of operations for Avenir Aspiration in Northwest Europe. In
addition to transport services, the vessel will provide LNG and LBG to various marine
bunker customers in the region, according to Avenir.

The company took delivery of this newbuild in October last year from China’s CIMC SOE.

“We are happy to see the start of operations for our vessel in Northwest Europe and
are looking forward to provide our services in a variety of countries and ports along
the North and Baltic Sea coast,” Peter Mackey, CEO of Avenir, said.
