Elengy: strike ends at Fos Tonkin and Fos Cavaou LNG terminals

Strike action at France’s Fos Tonkin and Fos Cavaou LNG import terminals has ended, according to French LNG terminal operator Elengy.

“The strike at the Fos terminals ended late Friday afternoon,” a spokeswoman for Elengy, a unit of Engie’s GRTgaz, told LNG Prime.

“Activity resumed as normal on Saturday morning (February 17),” she said.

The spokeswoman previously said that the company’s management and France’s General Confederation of Labour (CGT) have been in negotiations since January about salary complements for 2024.

Due to the staff strike, Elengy announced a reduction of sendout at the two LNG terminals from February 9 to February 13 and then extended it for two more days.

According to Elengy’s data, Fos Cavaou sendout was reduced to about 45 GWh/d on February 9-13, while there was no sendout on February 14 and 15.

Also, there was no Fos Tonkin sendout during February 10-17.

Besides France’s Fos Tonkin and Fos Cavaou LNG terminals on the Mediterranean coast, Elengy also operates the Montoir-de-Bretagne facility on the Atlantic coast.

These terminals have a combined regasification capacity of some 21.5 bcm per year.

Launched in 1972, the Fos Tonkin LNG terminal has a capacity of about 1.5 bcm, while the Fos Cavaou terminal, which launched in 2010, has a capacity of about 10 bcm,

Besides these three facilities, France also has the Dunkirk onshore LNG terminal and the Le Havre FSRU-based LNG import terminal, operated by TotalEnergies.
