KfW IPEX-Bank finances TT-Line’s LNG-powered ferry

Frankfurt-based KfW IPEX-Bank is providing financing for the German shipping company TT-Line’s LNG dual-fuel RoPax ferry, Nils Holgersson.

The bank said in a statement on Wednesday it would provide 30 million euros ($31.9 million) for the “Green Ship”.

In April, TT-Line started using this LNG-powered vessel in the Baltic Sea.

Prior to that, China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing delivered the 230 meters long vessel to the owner during a ceremony held on March 7.

TT-Line also took delivery of the sister ship, Peter Pan, in November.

Both of the vessels feature MAN dual-fuel engines and two 500-cbm type C LNG tanks, according to TT-Line.

The ships, based on TT-Line’s ‘Green Ship’ design, have the capacity for about 800 passengers and over 200 vehicles, and will both work in the Baltic Sea.
