Verbio, BayWa in bio-LNG move

German biofuels producer Verbio is expanding its bio-LNG offering in cooperation with compatriot energy firm BayWa.

From now on, freight forwarders and logistics companies can refuel with bio-LNG from Verbio at eleven BayWa LNG stations in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony, Hesse, and Saxony, according to a joint statement.

Verbio is not just a producer of biomethane from agricultural residues, but the firm is also investing in the development of CNG and LNG refueling stations in Germany.

Including the eleven BayWa stations, Verbio now offers alternative to diesel at 23 bio-LNG and bio-CNG refueling stations across Germany, the statement said.

BayWa Power Liquids, a unit of BayWa, will continue to operate the eleven refueling stations and ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the infrastructure.

Germany hosts the largest number of LNG refueling stations in Europe.

Data by Gmobility, a part of NGVA Europe, shows that Germany has 184 LNG refueling stations, while Italy hosts 151 such stations and Spain hosts 98 stations.

Europe in total hosts 728 LNG stations for vehicles.
