EPS takes delivery of second LNG-powered PCTC in China

Singapore’s Eastern Pacific Shipping has taken delivery of its second LNG-powered pure car and truck carrier in China.

China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing delivered the LNG dual-fuel PCTC, Lake Annecy, to the Idan Ofer-led shipping firm on December 13, it said in a statement.

The shipbuilder said it handed over the vessel ahead of schedule.

The PCTC has a capacity of 7,000 ceu and is a sister vessel to the recently delivered Lake Herman, the first LNG-powered PCTC in the fleet of EPS. EPS chartered this PCTC to Japan’s MOL.

China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing is building in total 10 LNG-powered PCTCs for EPS.

Besides LNG dual-fuel capabilities, the vessels feature a shaft generator and shore and battery power, EPS previously said.

The dual-fuel PCTCs have a length of 199.9 meters and a width of 38 meters, and they have a designed speed of 19.5 knots and 12 cargo decks in total.

Also, the car carriers feature two 2,000-cbm LNG storage tanks.

Besides China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing, EPS has more LNG dual-fuel PCTCs with a capacity of 7,000 ceu on order in China.

China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Weihai is also building six LNG-powered PCTCs for EPS.

VesselsValue data shows that EPS has 14 more PCTCs on order at China Merchants yards scheduled for delivery between 2024 and 2026.
