Dutch shipbuilder Ferus Smit has handed out another LNG-powered tanker to Swedish shipping company Thun Tankers.
Thun Empower is the fourth and the last in a series of E-class oil and chemical tankers and they all feature LNG/bio-LNG propulsion.
Goteborg-based Thun Tankers, a part of the Erik Thun Group but also a member of Sweden’s Gothia Tanker Alliance, already operates three such vessels.
The firm said in a statement on Monday the LNG-powered Thun Empower had left Eemshaven on her maiden voyage to Gothenburg this weekend.
Following arrival, this vessel will start trading within the Gothia Tanker Alliance network.
Ferus Smit launched the vessel in July this year. Such as its sister vessels, the 7999-dwt ice-class 1A ship features a Wartsila dual-fuel main engine that can operate on LNG or gas oil.
The vessel is about 115 meters long and 15.8 meters wide.
