Himalaya’s LNG bulkers earned about $22,300 per day in July

LNG-powered bulker owner Himalaya Shipping achieved average time charter equivalent earnings of about $22,300 per day in July.

Tor Olav Trøim’s Himalaya said in a commercial update on Thursday that its four vessels trading on index-linked time charter earned about $20,100 per day, gross, including average daily scrubber benefits of about $1,600 per day last month.

The company’s only vessel trading on fixed time charter earned $30,000 per day, gross, it said.

According to Himalaya, the Baltic 5TC Capesize Index averaged $13,192 during July, slightly down from $13,247 during June.

Himalaya’s two vessels trading on index-linked time charter earned about $20,500 per day, gross, including average daily scrubber benefits of about $1,600 per day in June.

During the first half of this year, Himalaya’s four vessels generated total operating revenues of $8.2 million, which is an average rate of $25,700 per day, gross.

China’s New Times Shipbuilding is building in total twelve LNG dual-fuel Newcastlemax bulk
carriers for Himalaya.

Earlier this year, Himalaya took delivery of the first vessel, Mount Norefjell, followed by the delivery of the second vessel, Mount Ita, the third vessel, Mount Etna, and the fourth vessel, Mount Blanc.

The latest and the fifth LNG-powered bulker, Mount Matterhorn, joined Himalaya’s fleet on July 13.

Up to date, Himalaya secured charter deals for nine of these ships.

The company recently also completed the first LNG bunkering operations in Singapore.
