James Fisher orders more LNG-powered tankers in China

UK-based marine services provider James Fisher has ordered two more LNG-powered tankers in China, according to brokers.

James Fisher declared their two optional LNG dual-fuel 6,000-dwt chemical tankers at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou (CMJL Yangzhou), which are both expected to deliver in the second half of 2026, Clarsons said in a report.

The order follows a 2+2 contract signed in October last year.

Clarksons said the vessels boost the series to four at the yard.

Intermodal said in a separate report that each of the vessels costs about $28 million and they will be all delivered in 2025 and 2026.

Last week, James Fisher christened its LNG dual-fuel chemical tanker, Lady Maria, at the port of Sunderland.

Back in 2021, James Fisher ordered two LNG-powered tankers at CMJL Yangzhou and this is the second vessel in that batch.

Since entering service in 2023, John Fisher and Lady Maria Fisher have primarily serviced the company’s long-time customer P66 with plans for work around the coastline of Northern Europe, allowing James Fisher Everard to service further existing long-term contracts, it said.
