Ray Car Carriers has ordered four LNG dual-fuel pure car and truck carriers at South Korea’s Hyundai Mipo, according to brokers.

Last week, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering said that its unit Hyundai Mipo will build four LNG-powered PCTCs with a capacity of 7,500 units for an owner in Middle East.

The shipbuilder will deliver these 200 meter long and 48 meters wide ships by 2027, it said.

Brokers, including Clarksons, said that Ray Car Carries is behind this order.

The Israeli firm is expected to pay about $129.5 million for each ship, or about $520 million for the entire order.

VesselsValue data shows that Ray Car Carriers has eight LNG dual-fuel PCTCs on order in South Korea.

In April last year, the firm ordered two LNG-powered PCTCs at South Korea’s Hyundai Samho for about $239 million and added two more vessels worth about $240 million in September.

Piraeus-based Stamco Ship Management currently manages 51 PCTCs for Ray Car Carriers, according to its website.

Ray Car Carriers’ clients include leading PCTC players such as NYK Line, MOL, K Line, EUKOR, Hyundai Glovis, China Shipping Group, Wallenius Wilhelmsen, and Hoegh Autoliners.
