TotalEnergies: Gas Vitality loads first LNG cargo at Elengy’s Fos Cavaou terminal

TotalEnergies said that France’s first LNG bunkering vessel, Gas Vitality, has loaded a cargo at Elengy’s Fos Cavaou terminal near the southern city of Marseille.

A unit of TotalEnergies said the 135 meters long Gas Vitality had completed its first loading operation on December 30.

Also, French LNG terminal operator Elengy, a unit of Engie, said in a separate statement that this operation with Gas Agility marked the launch of a new small-scale loading service at the Fos Cavaou facility.

The 18,600-cbm Gas Vitality is the first LNG bunkering vessel to be based in France. It should soon complete its maiden bunkering operation.

To remind, the vessel arrived in Marseille last month after a long trip from China.

The Bureau Veritas-classed vessel will fuel CMA CGM’s containerships and MSC Cruises’ upcoming LNG-powered cruise ships that call at the French port.

Moreover, V.Ships France will operate the vessel under the French flag.

Chinese shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua held a naming ceremony for this second LNG bunkering vessel owned by Japan’s MOL and chartered by TotalEnergies in October.

Hudong delivered the ship five days later to MOL’s unit Emerald Blue Maritime and TotalEnergies.

Gas Vitality has similar specifications as its sister ship, Gas Agility, which already works for TotalEnergies from the Dutch port of Rotterdam.
