Finnish state-owned energy firm and LNG supplier, Gasum, will this month open a new LNG and CNG fueling station for trucks in Sweden.
According to a statement by Gasum, the company’s latest station will open on March 11 in Vanersborg, Sweden.
The station is a result of cooperation with logistics company Centralen and is located on the latter’s site outside the town center.
Centralen is owned by 70 transporters with a combined fleet of 220 heavy-duty vehicles. The logistics firm is part of TRB, a long-term partner of Gasum.
Gasum’s 23rd in Sweden will serve both heavy-duty vehicles and passenger cars with liquefied and compressed biogas (LBG/CBG) and LNG/CNG, the firm said.
By expanding its filling station network, Gasum is responding to the growing demand for biogas across the Nordics, it said.
In 2023, there were more than 2,500 gas-powered heavy-duty vehicles running on either liquefied or compressed biogas.
Gasum said the number has been growing steadily over the past few years.
The company’s strategic goal is to bring 7 TWh of renewable biogas yearly to the Nordic market by 2027.
This goal includes building five large-scale biogas plants in Gotene, Borlange, Kalmar, Sjobo, and Horby in southern Sweden.
In February last year, Gasum started building the first bio-LNG plant in Gotene, and expects production to start at this facility at the end of 2024.
The company plans to start building the bio-LNG plant in Borlange during the spring.
