Norway’s Gasnor starts LNG supplies to Nordlaks fish carrier

Norwegian downstream player Gasnor, a unit of Molgas, has started bunkering the first out of two LNG-powered fish carriers owned by compatriot salmon producer Nordlaks.

The first operation is part of a long-term bunkering contract the duo signed for the 84 meters long Bjorg Pauline, according to Gasnor.

To remind, Turkey’s Tersan Shipyard delivered the vessel in April, after it departed to Norway.

Tersan is also building the sister ship Harald Martin scheduled for delivery later this year.

Gasnor will fuel the second fish carrier as well.

Besides LNG, the two vessels feature battery power. They have an ice-class 1A notation but also shore connections for port operation.

In addition, the fish carriers developed by Norway’s NSK Ship Design are 84 meters long and 19 meters wide and feature two MAN Cryo 146-cbm LNG tanks.

The duo will transport over 600 tons of live fish, particularly salmon and trout.
