LGM Engineering nets contract for Fairfield Chemical’s LNG-powered duo

China’s Gloryholder Liquefied Gas Machinery (LGM Engineering) said it would supply fuel systems for two Fairfield Chemical’s LNG-powered tankers.

LGM Engineering said in a statement it has signed the 1+1 contract with Fukuoka Shipbuilding in October.

To remind, Connecticut-based Fairfield Chemical ordered the two LNG-powered chemical tankers at Japan’s Fukuoka in June as the firm looks to reduce the carbon footprint of its operations.

Fukuoka will build two 26,300-dwt stainless steel chemical tankers with options for an additional four vessels.

The yard will deliver the two dual-fueled vessels in the second half of 2023.

LGM Engineering said the scope of supply under the new contract includes two type C LNG fuel tanks with PUF insulation, installation guidance of LNG tanks, and gas processing system.

In addition, the Chinese firm will provide LNG bunkering stations, water/glycol system, as well as commissioning, and crew training.

The deliveries of the LNG fuel supply systems will start in the end of 2022.

This marks the second contract LGM Engineering revealed this week.

The firm won a contract from shipbuilder Japan Marine United to supply fuel systems for two LNG-powered bulk carriers.

JMU is building the 210,000-dwt LNG dual-fuel vessels for Japan’s shipping giants NYK Line and K Line.
