Carnival Cruise Line’s third LNG-powered vessel coming to Galveston in 2023

Miami-based Carnival Cruise Line, a unit of Carnival Corporation, said its third LNG-powered ship would debut in 2023 from its home base in Galveston, Texas.

Carnival Cruise Line said in a statement it would name the third Excel-class ship Carnival Jubilee.

To remind, the US cruise line said in June it would take over the newbuilding slot originally reserved for its Germany-based sister firm AIDA Cruises, also a unit of Carnival, at the Meyer Werft yard in Papenburg.

The new ship adds to LNG-powered Mardi Gras, Carnival’s first Excel-class ship. Mardi Gras has already started sailing from Port Canaveral.

In addition, Carnival will also take delivery of its sister ship Carnival Celebration from Meyer Turku in 2022. This LNG-powered vessel should start sailing from Miami in late 2022.

Carnival Jubilee will arrive in 2023 at 182,800 gross tons, with a capacity of more than 5,400 guests and 1,700 crew, according to Carnival.

The vessel would be sailing seven-day western Caribbean itineraries and would include features from her sister ships, including the BOLT roller coaster on the top deck, it said.
