CIMC SOE says delivers world’s largest LNG bunkering ship to Avenir

China’s Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering said it has delivered the world’s largest LNG bunkering and supply vessel to small-scale player Avenir LNG.

The Chinese yard delivered the 20,000-cbm Avenir Allegiance during a virtual ceremony held last week, it said in a statement on Wednesday.

CIMC SOE launched this 159.9 meters long vessel with type C tanks in January this year. The vessel features WinGD dual-fuel propulsion and BOG reliquefication.

Avenir, a joint venture consisting of Stolt-Nielsen, Hoegh LNG and Golar LNG, has another 20,000 cbm sister vessel and one 7,500 cbm ship on order at CIMC SOE.

The London-based firm took delivery of the 7,500 cbm LNG bunkering and supply vessel, Avenir Aspiration, from CIMC SOE in October.

In addition, Avenir just announced it has signed a charter deal for the 20,000 cbm sister vessel, Avenir Achievement, with a unit of Shell.

Starting in the first quarter of 2023, the vessel would serve Shell for a period of three years with an option to extend up to five years, Avenir said on Wednesday.

The firm has chartered Avenir Allegiance as well, but it did not reveal the name of the charterer.
