Gasum launches new LNG fueling station in Finland

Gasum said it has opened its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling station for trucks in Southeast Finland.

Gasum’s newest gas filling station, supported by the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility, opened in Kotka on April 5.

The Kotka port is Finland’s largest export port, which means the area has an important role in logistics, Gasum said in a statement.

According to Gasum, the new station located at the entrance to the port serves both passenger car drivers and logistics and haulage companies’ trucks.

The station is the first liquefied biogas station in Southeast Finland and the second station in Kotka providing compressed biogas, the firm said.

It adds to Gasum’s growing Nordic road fuel gas filling station network of around 100 gas filling stations in the Nordic countries, with more than 30 of these stations distributing liquefied gas serving heavy-duty, long-haul transport.

Gasum also said this week it would build a new LNG and CNG fueling station in Kivisto, Vantaa, as the number of gas-powered trucks continues to grow in Finland.
