Honeywell wins Qatari LNG contract

Qatargas has selected Houston-based Honeywell as the main instrument and control contractor to support Qatar Petroleum’s LNG expansion project.

The award is part of the North Field East project that will add four mega trains with a capacity of 33 mtpa in the Ras Laffan complex.

This phase of the expansion project will increase Qatar’s LNG production capacity from 77 to 110 mtpa.

The project will deploy Honeywell’s industrial Internet of Things-enabled LEAP methodology, incorporating virtualization, universal input/output, channel technology and cloud engineering.

Furthermore, Honeywell will implement smart junction boxes technology for control and safety systems to reduce the number of instrumentation cabinets as compared to previous technologies.

Honeywell will integrate its instrumentation and control systems into the NFE main control building in Ras Laffan.

Additionally, instrument technical rooms will be located throughout the process area.

The US firm did not reveal the value of the deal.
