TT-Line, Avenir join forces for Malaysian LNG bunkering op

German ferry operator TT-Line and UK-based small-scale player Avenir LNG have joined forces for the first LNG ship-to-ship bunkering operation for the newbuild RoPax ferry, Peter Pan.

TT-Line took delivery of the 230 meters long vessel from China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing in November.

The vessel then departed on its maiden voyage to Europe and completed its first LNG ship-to-ship bunkering operation on December 19 at the Pengerang Anchorage, Malaysia, according to a social media post by Avenir.

Avenir said that its 7,500-cbm Avenir Advantage delivered the fuel during the operation in Malaysia.

The bunkering vessel provides LNG bunker services for a range of customers through its charter with Petronas.

Peter Pan is the second vessel of TT-Line’s fleet that received an LNG delivery from Avenir.

Back in June last year, Avenir delivered a blend of liquefied natural gas and bio-LNG to a newbuild RoPax ferry owned by TT-Line via a truck-to-ship operation in Germany’s northern port of Luebeck.

TT-Line’s Nils Holgersson is a sister ship and the first of two LNG-powered vessels in the company’s fleet.

The Chinese yard delivered Nils Holgersson in March and the vessel started its Baltic Sea operations from Travemuende in April.
