Sallaum Lines places order for LNG-powered PCTC quartet in China

Switzerland-based Sallaum Lines said it had placed an order for four LNG-powered pure car and truck carriers at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard as part of its fleet expansion plans.

Besides four firm 7,400-ceu LNG dual-fuel vessels, the order also includes two options, according to a statement by Sallaum Lines.

The firm founded by Ibrahim Sallaum officially placed the order on June 15.

Prior to this move, Sallaum Lines booked two LNG-powered PCTCs with a capacity of 7,500 units at China’s Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding and this now lifts the total number of vessels to eight.

Sallaum Lines expects to take delivery of the first of these four new LNG dual-fuel vessels in March 2026.

The firm did not provide the price tag of the new deal. It will pay about $88 million per vessel for the order at Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding.

Measuring 199.9 meters in length, 37.70 meters in width, and a draught of 10.20 meters, the vessels incorporate a dual-fuel LNG design developed by Deltamarin.

With 13 vehicle decks, the robust design ensures effective cargo handling and maximizes operational efficiency, according to Sallaum Lines.

These ships can also utilize alternative marine shore power, thus reducing their carbon footprint while docked, it said.
