Croatian FSRU welcomes another US LNG cargo

US liquefied natural gas supplies keep coming to the FSRU-based Krk import facility in Croatia on the back of high LNG demand in Europe.

LNG Croatia said in a statement that the 180,000-cbm SK Resolute had docked at the 140,000-cbm FSRU on Thursday.

The 2018-built LNG carrier, owned by a JV consisting of Marubeni and SK Shipping and chartered by TotalEnergies, left the FSRU on Sunday.

This marks the second arrival for the LNG carrier as it already delivered a cargo from the US to the FSRU in December.

LNG Croatia said that the FSRU has now received 32 LNG cargoes since the start of operations last year.

It did not provide the source of the latest shipment, but SK Resolute’s AIS data provided by VesselsValue shows that the vessel previously picked up the cargo at Sempra’s Cameron LNG plant in Louisiana.

This marks the third US cargo to land at the FSRU in about three weeks, following the arrival of British Achiever and Castillo de Merida.

Croatia’s FSRU usually receives about two LNG cargoes per month and most of these shipments come from the US. It also welcomed shipments from Qatar, Nigeria, Egypt, Trinidad, and reloads from Dunkirk and Zeebrugge.

Earlier this year, the terminal boosted its capacity from 2.6 billion cubic meters of gas to 2.9 bcm per year without new investment.

Croatia is also nearing a decision to further increase the capacity of its FSRU-based LNG import terminal, as European countries look to slash reliance on Russian gas.

The country plans to even double the regasification capacity of the terminal to some 6.1 bcm, according to the Croatian government.
