Turkey’s Tersan Shipyard said it has handed over the first out of two LNG-powered fish carriers to Norwegian salmon producer Nordlaks.
The 84 meters long Bjorg Pauline is on its way to Norway after departing the yard on Thursday.
Besides LNG, the vessel also features battery power. Bjorg Pauline has an ice-class 1A notation and includes shore connections for port operation.
The fish carrier developed by Norway’s NSK Ship Design is 84 meters long and 19 meters wide and features two MAN Cryo 146-cbm LNG tanks.
It will transport over 600 tons of live fish, particularly salmon and trout.
Nordlaks should also take the delivery of the second LNG-powered fish carrier from Tersan later this year.
To remind, Tersan launched LNG-powered Harald Martin in August last year.
Both of the deliveries have been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
